DENVER, Oct. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- First Data Corp. (NYSE: FDC), a
global leader in electronic commerce and payment services, today announced
that its share repurchase program is being increased by $1.5 billion. Added
to the company's remaining authorization, the additional authorization now
enables First Data to re-purchase nearly $2 billion of its stock.
Consistent with past practices, purchases will be made in the open market
based on market conditions, business opportunities and other factors.
Since 1998, First Data has repurchased more than 247 million shares on a
split-adjusted basis for $7.7 billion under repurchase programs authorized by
the company's board of directors. During 2004, First Data has re-purchased
63 million shares for $2.7 billion.
