PARK RIDGE, N.J., Oct. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- The Hertz Corporation announced
today that, effective January 1, 2003, Charles L. Shafer will be appointed
Senior Vice President, Quality Assurance and Administration, succeeding Robert
J. Bailey who is retiring.
Mr. Shafer has held a series of senior positions during his 37-year Hertz
career, including Regional Vice President of the Company's Western Region
headquartered in Southern California. Since January 1, 1998, Mr. Shafer has
been President, Hertz Europe Limited, responsible for managing Hertz' European
car and equipment rental operations and its car leasing business.
Commenting on Mr. Shafer's appointment, Craig R. Koch, Hertz' President
and CEO, said, "Bob Bailey has been an outstanding leader of our centralized
Administration, Reservation and Quality Assurance operations in Oklahoma City.
We are fortunate to have the management depth to be able to appoint someone
with Charles Shafer's vast experience and knowledge to assume this critical
role in our organization."
Mr. Shafer will be succeeded in his current position by Mr. Michel Taride,
a 22-year Hertz veteran, who has previously managed the Company's operations
in France and Italy, and has been, most recently, General Manager of Hertz'
European car rental operations.

locations in more than 150 countries.
