Regional Growth Challenges Including IP, Workforce Development and Funding
to Be Discussed
SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- SEMI today announced details
for the seventh annual SEMI Pacific Northwest Outlook Dinner, which will be
held between 6:30-9:30 pm PT on November 9, 2006 at the Hilton Portland and
Executive Towers in Portland, Oregon.
Working under the theme "Economic Potential of the Pacific Northwest:
How does our Silicon Forest Grow?" the dinner features an executive keynote
and a panel that will discuss the various technology clusters in the
Pacific Northwest, as well as the prospects for growth in the region.
Topics covered will range from intellectual property issues and workforce
development to available funding, and how the Pacific Northwest compares to
other regions.
The keynote speaker for the evening will be David Y. Chen, partner at
OVP Venture Partners. Featured panelists include Dean W. Freeman, research
vice president of Gartner Dataquest; Bruce Rhine, chief strategy officer
and director of Nanometrics, Inc.; and Robert D. "Skip" Rung, president and
executive director of the Oregon Nanoscience and Microtechnologies
Institute (ONAMI). Michael W. Wright, president and CEO of Octavian
Scientific, will serve as panel moderator.
