Raytheon Increases Air Traffic Efficiencies at Four Major U.S. Airports

WASHINGTON, Oct. 16, 2008 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN)
and Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) have completed air traffic system upgrades
at Terminal Radar Approach Control facilities and associated air traffic
control towers at four major airports across the country: Chicago O'Hare
International, Denver International, Lambert-St. Louis International and
Minneapolis-St. Paul International.

Raytheon is the prime contractor for the Federal Aviation
Administration Terminal Area Modernization Replacement program. The
Raytheon-Lockheed Martin team developed and installed new automated radar
processing and display systems as part of the TAMR system.

TAMR system upgrades addressed hardware obsolescence and capacity
issues and provided an enhanced computer-human interface within the
National Airspace System for air traffic controllers. As a result,
significant efficiencies are anticipated for the management of aircraft
separation and sequencing; traffic alerts and weather advisories; and radar
vectoring for aircraft arrivals and departures. Additionally, the new
display and processor technologies provide for future terminal enhancements
such as automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast, or ADS-B.

Raytheon Company, with 2007 sales of $21.3 billion, is a technology
leader specializing in defense, homeland security and other government
markets throughout the world. With a history of innovation spanning 86
years, Raytheon provides state-of-the-art electronics, mission systems
integration and other capabilities in the areas of sensing; effects; and
command, control, communications and intelligence systems, as well as a
broad range of mission support services. With headquarters in Waltham,
Mass., Raytheon employs 72,000 people worldwide.
