Borders, Declare Yourself to Host Voter Registration Event at Borders in Westwood, Calif.

WESTWOOD, Calif., Oct. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- WHAT: Borders has teamed with Declare Yourself to register voters for the 2008 presidential election. Declare Yourself is a national nonpartisan nonprofit campaign founded by TV writer and producer Norman Lear to encourage and empower Americans -- particularly young people -- to register to vote in elections. Declare Yourself registered over one million young people in the 2004 and 2006 elections and has already registered over 700,000 new voters for the 2008 election. After registering to vote, attendees can participate in the "Declare Yourself/Big Stakes Five Dominoes Tournament" where the winner will receive a prize package that includes a copy of the book "DECLARE YOURSELF: Speak, Connect, Act, Vote" signed by Lear. Attendees can also view an original copy of the Declaration of Independence that will be on display at the store. This is the last time this year that the Declaration will be available for public viewing. WHO: Members of Declare Yourself will register people to vote. WHY: The deadline to register to vote in California is fast approaching.
