MIAMI, Oct. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Ryder System, Inc. (NYSE: R),
a global leader in supply chain, warehousing and transportation management
solutions, announced the appointment of Airton Gimenes as Senior Vice
President of Sales and Marketing, Supply Chain Solutions. In his new role,
Mr. Gimenes will be responsible for all sales and marketing activities of
Ryder's global supply chain business, supporting the U.S. and international
operations teams.
Mr. Gimenes joins Ryder following a 30-year career with Hewlett-Packard
Company (HP), where his most recent position was Senior Vice President,
Worldwide Enterprise Segment, for HP's Customer Solutions Group. In that
role, he was responsible for over 14,000 accounts, including HP's largest
100 global accounts, with revenue of approximately $30 billion and a
worldwide staff of account managers and industry consulting experts. Mr.
Gimenes started working for HP in 1975 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. During his
years at HP, he held roles of increasing responsibility in sales and
marketing, finance and administration, operations, general management,
customer services and solutions while serving at the national, regional and
worldwide levels.

Mr. Gimenes earned a master of science degree in Business from Pacific
Western University and a bachelor of arts degree in Business Administration
from Universidade de Sao Paulo. He has also completed executive development
training at IMEDE in Lausagne, Switzerland, and Darden Business School at
the University of Virginia.
