SEATTLE, Oct. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Immunex Corporation (Nasdaq: IMNX)
announced today the promotions of Robert J. Bettencourt as vice president of
managed care, Edison C. Russell as vice president of specialty therapeutics
sales, and Michael P. Ambielli as senior director of commercial operations.

Bob Bettencourt will serve as vice president of managed care, building
strategic alliances with important managed care business partners. In
addition, Bettencourt will work closely with the Immunex marketing partner for
ENBREL(R) (etanercept), Wyeth-Ayerst, on managed care outreach initiatives.
Wyeth-Ayerst is the pharmaceutical division of American Home Products
Corporation.
Ed Russell takes on the role of vice president, specialty therapeutics
sales, focusing on sales initiatives for LEUKINE(R) (sargramostim),
NOVANTRONE(R) (mitoxantrone for injection concentrate), and other Immunex
specialty therapeutics products. In his previous role as senior director of
managed healthcare at Immunex, Russell was responsible for national accounts
and healthcare policy and reimbursement.
A new commercial operations group has been created, headed by Mike
Ambielli, who will serve as senior director. This group will provide support
to both the specialty therapeutics and ENBREL(R) franchises. Ambielli will
oversee management of marketing communications and marketing research,
contracts and pricing, sales administration, and customer service functions.
Additional responsibilities include strategic pricing programs as well as
evaluation and analysis of business proposals from the field sales
organization.
