RSA Security Experts Available to Discuss FFIEC Guidance Concerning U.S. Online Banking Security

Recommendations Stress Need to Provide Consumers with Multi-Factor
Authentication to Protect Against Fraud and Identity Theft

BEDFORD, Mass., Oct. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- A recent guidance by the
Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) recommends
financial institutions offer consumers stronger forms of security to protect
online banking transactions from fraud and identity theft. Specifically, the
guidance notes that single-factor authentication -- which grants full account
access based on the entry of only a username and password -- does not
adequately protect consumers from online fraud and identity theft. Thus, the
FFIEC recommends financial institutions implement multi-factor authentication
to bolster the security of online banking.
Experts from RSA Security are available to discuss the ramifications of
this guidance as well as the multi-factor authentication technologies that
could enable financial institutions to better protect online banking in the
United States. Organizations worldwide -- including American Bank, Banorte,
Credit Suisse, E*TRADE Financial and Stonebridge Bank -- already rely on RSA
Security's two-factor authentication solutions to provide customers with
stronger online banking security. RSA Security is able to discuss what these
organizations, and others, are doing to strongly protect their customers
online.
