PITTSBURGH, Oct. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Westinghouse Electric Company
announced today that it has appointed Meena Mutyala to the newly created
position of Vice President and Business Leader, India Strategy.

In her new position, Ms. Mutyala will be responsible for formulating a
business strategy to pursue commercial nuclear power opportunities in
India, a market that is just opening to U.S. companies as the result of
recent changes in U.S. government policies.

She will report to Ricardo G. Perez, Sr. Vice President, Global Growth
and Innovation.

In commenting on Ms. Mutyala's position, Westinghouse President and CEO
Aris Candris said: "Meena's new role is an important one as the nuclear
power market in India promises to be both robust and long term. Her
extensive background in virtually all aspects of the nuclear power industry
will help Westinghouse develop a long-term vision and strategy for nuclear
power in India, which will include the eventual construction and operation
of Westinghouse AP1000(TM) nuclear plants in India."

The Westinghouse Global Growth and Innovation initiative, headed by Mr.
Perez, is designed to prepare the company for significant growth within the
worldwide nuclear power industry.

Ms. Mutyala most recently served as Vice President of Product
Management & Engineering for the Global Nuclear Fuel business of
Westinghouse. She also held the position of Vice President of US PWR Fuel
with responsibility for marketing, sales and project management for the
customer base in US and Asia.

During her career, Ms. Mutyala led the acquisition by Westinghouse of
the global nuclear businesses of ABB. She has also served as the Plant
Manager of the Westinghouse Specialty Metals Plant, which manufactures
components for commercial nuclear fuel.

Ms. Mutyala, who joined Westinghouse in 1977, served as Director of
Quality and Environmental Systems for Westinghouse Energy Systems. Earlier
in her career, she held a number of increasingly responsible nuclear power-
related positions in Europe and the United States.

Ms. Mutyala holds a degree in physics from the Indian Institute of
Technology in Chennai, India; a master's in nuclear engineering from
Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill; and an MBA from the University of
Pittsburgh. In 2005, she was honored by the Indian Institute of Technology
with the distinguished alumnus award.

Westinghouse is the world's pioneering nuclear power company and is a
leading supplier of nuclear plant products and technologies to utilities
throughout the world. Westinghouse technology today is the basis for
approximately one-half of the world's operating nuclear plants.
