Gentex Shipping Automatic-Dimming Mirrors for the Toyota Tacoma

ZEELAND, Mich., Oct. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Gentex Corporation, the
world's leading supplier of automatic-dimming rearview mirrors to the
worldwide automotive industry, is shipping interior, auto-dimming mirrors for
the 2005 Toyota Tacoma. The vehicles will be sold in the United States and
Canada.
A base Gentex mirror is standard on the TRD Sport Package on the Long Bed
Double Cab models, and is available as an option on other models. Southeast
Toyota and Gulf States Toyota distributors also offer an auto-dimming mirror
with HomeLink(R) on the Tacoma through their accessory programs.
Gentex mirrors automatically darken to reduce glare from the headlamps of
vehicles approaching from the rear. The brighter the glare, the darker the
mirrors become, making nighttime driving safer.
HomeLink is Johnson Controls' fully integrated wireless control system.
Three buttons conveniently located on the face of the mirror can be programmed
to operate garage doors, estate gates, security systems, home lighting, and
other radio frequency controlled devices.
"This is Toyota's first factory-installed application of interior auto-
dimming mirrors in the compact/small pick-up truck segment," stated Garth
Deur, Gentex executive vice president. "Toyota's progressive use of our
glare-elimination technology demonstrates its customer appeal and safety
benefits."
Founded in 1974, Gentex Corporation (Nasdaq: GNTX) is an international
company that provides high-quality products to the worldwide automotive
industry and North American fire protection market. Based in Zeeland,
Michigan, the Company develops, manufactures and markets interior and exterior
automatic-dimming automotive rearview mirrors that utilize proprietary
electrochromic technology to dim in proportion to the amount of headlight
glare from trailing vehicle headlamps. Many of the mirrors are sold with
advanced electronic features, and more than 95 percent of the Company's
revenues are derived from the sales of auto-dimming mirrors to nearly every
major automaker in the world.
