Family-Focused Event is Scary Good Fun for Kids and it's Free!
ANN ARBOR, Mich., Oct. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Borders and Waldenbooks
stores nationwide are preparing to welcome lots of little ghouls, witches
and monsters Saturday, Oct. 25 beginning at 2 p.m. for a free
family-friendly Halloween "Spooktacular" celebration filled with scary good
fun. The event comes just in time as more people plan to celebrate
Halloween this year versus last year (64.5% compared to 58.7%) according to
a National Retail Federation survey conducted by BIGresearch. Borders knows
that many families are looking for ways to break out the fun this Halloween
without breaking the bank and the "Spooktacular" at Borders and Waldenbooks
is the perfect solution - especially because the joy of reading is part of
the fun!

"Halloween can be a great escape from everyday life," said Borders
Group's Senior Vice President of Merchandising Linda Jones. "For kids and
their families, Borders and Waldenbooks stores are a great place to come
for 'Spooktacular' because all of the free Halloween activities we offer
are fun and even bring a little bit of learning into the mix ... without
the kids even knowing it! The whole family can enjoy the day."
Everyone is welcome to come to the "Spooktacular" in costume (parents
and caregivers too!) to enjoy Halloween story time where children will
listen to captivating story tellers reading from books such as "Where is
Baby's Big Pumpkin," "Halloween Jack," and "Goodnight Goon."
In addition, the haunted happenings include creative coloring and games
such as "Monster Freeze," "Pumpkin Says," and "Ghost, Ghost, Boo!" For
older children, there will be a Halloween-related treasure hunt involving
finding letters throughout the store. All stores will also hold costume
contests with prizes for the scariest, funniest, and cutest costumes, and
many Borders and Waldenbooks staff members will be dressed up too. In some
stores, there will even be trick-or-treat stations.
