Bull Run Corporation Subsidiary to Provide Marketing Services To 10,000-Member Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association

ATLANTA, Oct. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Host Communications, Inc. (Host), a
wholly owned subsidiary of Bull Run Corporation (Nasdaq: BULL), has been
selected by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) to serve as the
sponsorship sales agent for the 10,000-member association.
Host Communications will be charged with introducing the popularity and
brand recognition of "rodeo" to a broader segment of Corporate America.
Colorado Springs-based PRCA, the world's largest and oldest rodeo-sanctioning
body, annually sanctions more than 700 events in 39 states and four Canadian
provinces. This week, October 25-28, the PRCA will hold the $700,000
Copenhagen Cup Finale in Dallas -- one of the sport's three "majors" --
followed by the 10-day, $4.5 million Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las
Vegas, December 7-16. Copenhagen Cup Finale champions automatically qualify
to represent the United States in competition against Canada this February in
the Olympic Command Performance Rodeo: North American Challenge, part of the
2002 Cultural Olympiad in conjunction with the Winter Olympic Games in Salt
Lake City.
Existing PRCA marketing opportunities, provided through Host
Communications, include tour sponsorship, print, radio and television
exposure, on-site signage and promotions, retail and consumer promotions and
Internet presence on the PRCA Web site, http://www.prorodeo.com, where 100,000 unique
visitors log on each month.
"One of the reasons Host was immediately interested in the PRCA is that
they believed the fan base to be virtually untapped, with an estimated 22
million people attending the events and another 40 million watching from home.
This is the first time for the PRCA to outsource this sales function, and we
know we'll deliver the best results," said Bull Run President and CEO Robert
S. Prather, Jr. "Host views PRCA as the 'NASCAR of the West' because those
who follow the sport are incredibly loyal to it. There are extensive branding
and exposure opportunities for corporations looking to enter this avenue of
sports sponsorship."
Bull Run, through Host Communications, provides affinity, multimedia,
promotional and event management services support to universities, athletic
conferences, associations and corporations. In addition to Host, Bull Run
also has significant investments in Gray Communications Systems, Inc., an
owner and operator of 13 television stations and four newspapers; Rawlings
Sporting Goods Company, Inc., a leading supplier of team sports equipment in
North America; iHigh Inc., a marketing company focused on high school
students; and Sarkes Tarzian, Inc., an owner and operator of two television
stations and four radio stations.
