Navox Corporation Provides Cutting-Edge Audio-Band Voice and Data Modems For Telematics Sector

Only Company to Enable Simultaneous Voice and Data Telematics Services Across
                        Multiple Cellular Technologies

Navox Signs Strategic Supply Agreement with Chapman Technologies, a Leading
Global Positioning System (GPS) and Automotive Security Provider

DETROIT, Oct. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Navox Corporation, a Solectron company,
today announced the availability of its audio-band voice and data modems for
the Telematics market at Convergence 2002. The products and technology allow
Telematics, fleet tracking and asset management providers to transmit data and
voice simultaneously across any cellular technology. This allows providers to
deploy tracking systems regardless of the types of cellular services that are
available in specific service areas. The company also announced a strategic
supply agreement with Chapman Technologies, a developer of cost-effective,
wireless communications and location-specific technology products and services
that incorporate Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and cellular technology.

Navox SVD Technology: A Competitive Advantage
Navox leverages its simultaneous voice and data (SVD) technology in all of
its audio-band voice and data modems. SVD technology is the company's
proprietary method for sending data and voice at the same time over a channel
normally used only for voice communication without degrading the audio quality
of a cellular call. The technology separates the data and voice so the data
signal is not heard by either of the parties engaged in the conversation.
Conversely, data transmission is not affected by the audio conversation.
Navox's audio-band voice and data modems allow voice and data to be
transmitted between a digital or analog cellular handset and a Public Switched
Telephone Network-based (PSTN) call center. The key advantage of Navox
products is that data can be transmitted over any cellular technology,
including AMPS, CDMA, TDMA and GSM. Navox's products have all been
specifically designed for data and voice transmission over the signal
impairments caused by both wireless and wireline paths. Custom-designed data
signals and modulation techniques, detection methods and error control provide
the highest signaling reliability in the industry.

Navox Solutions for the Telematics Sector
Navox modems, which are all software-based and can run on multiple
processors (DSPs or CPUs), provide tremendous flexibility for vehicle
Telematics, emergency services, fleet management and telemetry, allowing them
to develop sophisticated Telematics products that require seamless data
transmissions and independence from the wireless infrastructure. This
flexibility can also be used to create basic telemetry and asset-tracking
applications. As an example, if voice is not required, data modes can be used
for data transmission only.
Customers can easily implement Navox's software-based products alongside
complementary data transport solutions such as packet data radios, circuit-
switched cellular data modems and even satellite digital broadcasting systems,
to create powerful Telematics solutions that can be deployed worldwide.

    Manufacturing Agreement with Chapman Technologies
As part of its agreement with Chapman Technologies, Solectron, Navox's
parent company, will provide manufacturing, repair, logistics and contact-
center services for Chapman's new automotive products. Navox and Chapman will
jointly market, license and deploy carrier-grade technology that will use
Navox's SVD technology for GSM, TDMA, CDMA and analog AMPS wireless networks.
The technology will be used in Chapman's GPS/cellular mobile security
devices, including Chapman's GPS Enhancer module, designed to add GPS and
modem capabilities to next-generation handsets, and Chapman's Vehicle Locator
(CVL-D), which is installed in automobiles, trucks, boats and construction
equipment that need emergency, medical, concierge or geofence tracking and
location-based services. These products utilize the Chapman Command Center
(C3), the company's proprietary nationwide monitoring facility that
communicates simultaneous voice and digital mapping with the company's
products and is a key factor in the provisioning of real-time emergency
location-specific services, and the notification of vehicle diagnostics.
"We are very pleased to work with Chapman Technologies," said Denis
Marchand, president and CEO of Navox. "Chapman is one of the few companies in
North America to offer digital handheld, Telematics and fleet asset management
GPS/cellular products, that deploy a fully integrated, simultaneous voice and
data 'end-to-end' response center solution. By combining Navox's cutting-edge
technology with Solectron's comprehensive electronics manufacturing services,
Chapman has the capacity, skills and technology to deliver superior tracking
systems products to the automotive market."
