Senior U.S. Coalition Authority Advisor Jim Haveman to Host Lecture on Rebuilding Iraq's Health Care System

    LITTLETON, Colo., Oct. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Littleton Adventist Hospital, in
conjunction with ALN Medical Management, will host an interactive discussion
with James K. Haveman, Jr., former Senior Advisor to the Iraqi Ministry of
Health for the Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA).  Haveman will talk about
his experience rebuilding the Iraqi health care system.  The discussion will
be held on Monday, October 25 from 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. at Littleton Adventist
Hospital in conference rooms one and two.
    Haveman, who served as health advisor to Ambassador Paul Bremer, recently
returned to the United States after spending a year in Iraq assisting in post-
conflict reconstruction efforts.  He will share his experience working with
his Iraqi colleagues to re-open 240 hospitals and 1,200 clinics in just
10 months.
    With reports of the effort in Iraq dominating news reports, this is a rare
opportunity to hear directly, Haveman's own account of what was involved in
re-establishing the critical health care foundation for Iraq.  Haveman will be
available for interviews with the media following the presentation until
9:00 a.m.
    Haveman has a long history of human services management and volunteer
work.  He was appointed Senior Advisor to the Ministry of Health in Iraq by
President George W. Bush and was in Iraq from June 2003 to May 2004.
Additionally, he served as executive director of numerous organizations
including Bethany Christian Services, the largest child welfare/adoption
agency in the United States, The Kent County Community Mental Health Board and
Project Rehab, a substance abuse program in Grand Rapids.  Haveman also sits
on a variety of boards including Ferris State University, Project Rehab,
International Aid Inc. and the Defense Business Board of the Department of
Defense.  He currently serves as president of The Haveman Group, a consulting
and government relations firm based in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
