Framestore CFC Launches New York Office

LONDON, Oct. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Award winning visual effects, animation
and post production house Framestore CFC today announced that it is opening a
New York office devoted to its advertising clients. The new venture will be
led by Framestore CFC Board member and advertising head, Jon Collins as its
Managing Director. Framestore NY will be based in Varick Street, in the heart
of New York's creative industries area, from November 2003.
The company, which has won international acclaim for work including Xbox's
"Mosquito," Levis "Odyssey," and Chrysler's "Golden Gate," is creating a New
York team made up of key London talent which will later be supplemented by new
team members from the New York community. The team will be supported by
technology such as Alias' Maya and Discreet's Flame, as well as proprietary
production tools for communication, collaboration and pre visualisation.
Managing Director of Framestore NY, Jon Collins commented, "This is an
exciting time for the US advertising industry and for Framestore CFC. We've
built a terrifically strong, successful business in Europe and, having led the
market there for years, we feel now is the right time to extend our presence
to our clients in the US.
"Our commercials team is substantial in our London HQ, and has the
capability to take on more global work. Our New York office will allow us to
be closer to our US-based clients, for whom we are already creating
commercials, and will offer them exactly the same standard of service and
cultural practices that they expect from Framestore CFC in London."
Framestore CFC already works closely with the majority of the world's
leading advertising agencies, including DDB, McCann Erickson, AMV BBDO, BBH,
Leo Burnett (Chicago) and Euro RSCG/MVBMS. In a time of dwindling advertising
revenue and fierce competition, Framestore CFC's commercials business has
grown and the number of awards they have received this year, including two
Sharks, a Cannes Gold Lion, the VES Award for Best Visual Effects in
Commercial, a Silver D&AD Award for TV & Cinema Advertising Crafts: Special
Effects and the BTAA Craft Award for Best Video Post Production, is testament
to the consistent innovation and quality of their work.
This is the latest in a line of exciting developments for Framestore CFC's
commercial team this year. Early in 2003 they launched 'front,' a complete
and online digital studio catering for all aspects of the post-production
service of commercials and films. Last month, Framestore CFC announced
'xtremefront,' a joint venture with Xtreme Information combining Xtreme's
global archive of 4 million commercials with Framestore CFC's front digital
online portal to open up new opportunities for cost saving and increased
efficiency across the advertising industry worldwide.
In addition to being a leading player in the advertising world, Framestore
CFC is in production at present on features including "Harry Potter and the
Prisoner of Azkaban," "Helen of Troy," "Thunderbirds" from the cult television
show, and the next instalment of the Discovery/BBC series "Walking with
Dinosaurs", which has now been seen by 180 millions viewers worldwide. The
company once again won a Primetime EMMY this year for its animation work --
the eleventh in eight years for visual effects and animation.
William Sargent, CEO of Framestore CFC adds, "The core strength of
Framestore CFC has always been our diversity. Opening a New York office is an
important development for us -- and one that we are excited about."
