Agile PLM Solution Shortens Innovation Cycles and Simplifies Data Sharing
With Partners and Suppliers
SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Agile Software
Corporation (Nasdaq: AGIL), a leading provider of product lifecycle
management (PLM) solutions, today announced GE Medical Systems
Kretztechnik's selection of Agile Advantage to accelerate its product
development processes. GE Medical Systems Kretztechnik develops and
produces 3-D/4-D medical ultrasonic devices for the world market. The short
innovation cycles in medical engineering and the continuous expansion of
their product portfolio drove GE Medical Systems Kretztechnik to the
decision to introduce a PLM solution.
"We must achieve short innovation cycles while managing a growing range
of products. This means during our development process, we must be tightly
integrated with our service providers and suppliers. The Agile Advantage
PLM solution is a key factor for the successful implementation of our
business strategy," said Franz Haas, business process manager, GE Medical
Systems Kretztechnik. "It is especially important that we can use Agile
Advantage to share our product data with partners via recognized standards
such as PDX (Product Definition eXchange). This enables us to quickly and
easily share product specifications with our partners and service providers
electronically. At the same time, we can import product data from
development partners directly into our Agile PLM system, which shortens our
overall development cycles."
The development of complex, multi-component ultrasonic equipment
requires that engineers process a large number of product specifications.
Changes to product data also need to be communicated to external suppliers
in a timely manner. The company plans to use Agile Advantage for the
central processing of all product-related information, which includes the
processing of bills of materials (BOMs) and the management of the complete
product documentation. This will make it possible to handle version and
change management for all products.
With Agile Advantage, GE Medical Systems Kretztechnik chose a PLM
application that is specifically designed for small and medium-sized
companies. The solution primarily addresses the electronics, technology,
and medical engineering industries. It helps small and medium-sized
businesses to gain optimum insight into their product lifecycle and enables
then to accelerate innovations. Moreover, it assists companies in saving
development costs, increasing the product quality and improving their
productivity. The PLM system also provides companies with a more efficient
way to meet applicable compliance guidelines.
"We are pleased with GE Medical Systems Kretztechnik's adoption of
Agile Advantage," said Craig Livingston, Agile vice president and general
manager, SME solutions. "Agile Advantage was designed to enable small and
medium sized companies to increase product quality, improve productivity
and ensure regulatory compliance -- all important objectives for medical
device manufacturers. We look forward to working with GE Medical Systems
Kretztechnik to help them achieve their objectives."
