590 oxygen concentrator from Mallinckrodt Inc. (NYSE: MKG) is another of the
healthcare company's growing line of products designed for patients suffering
from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The Aeris 590 provides
supplemental oxygen primarily to patients in a home setting, but it can also
be used in subacute settings such as nursing homes.
The Aeris 590 is lighter, quieter and easier to move and handle than its
popular predecessor, the Puritan Bennett Companion(R) 590. Other improvements
to the Aeris 590 include:
-- a modular sieve bed design that integrates connectors and
fittings in a manifold for easy maintenance and reduced failures due to
leaks.
-- a newly designed valve system, which replaces the diaphragm design, for
increased reliability and serviceability. If repairs are needed,
getting inside the unit is as simple as removing two screws.
