Pac-West Telecomm Announces New Customer Operations Group

Increases Focus on Customer Service and Field Operations

    STOCKTON, Calif., Oct. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Pac-West Telecomm, Inc.
(Nasdaq: PACW), a rapidly growing provider of integrated communications
services to Internet service providers (ISPs) and business customers in the
western U.S., today announced that it has created a new Customer Operations
group. This new group, which was previously a part of the company's business
market sales division, will include all customer care, field operations and
business development functions. Ravi Brar, formerly Vice President of
Business Development, will head the expanded group as Vice President of
Customer Operations. Related to this organizational realignment, the company
also announced that it has promoted Rae Kohan to Vice President of Business
Sales.
Wally Griffin, Pac-West's president and CEO, said, "To ensure we provide
our customers with exceptional service as we continue to scale our operations
to further penetrate our markets, we have realigned our sales and customer
operations functions by creating a new Customers Operations group. This new
group will focus exclusively on customer care, process improvement, field
operations, and integration of customers obtained through acquisitions.
Appointing Ravi to oversee this key area of the organization enables us to
benefit from his extensive operational background and proven leadership
abilities."
Under Brar's direction, Pac-West will be expanding its customer support
staff, and streamlining its order entry, provisioning, and delivery systems.
In addition, as the company continues to evaluate strategic regional
acquisitions, Brar will be responsible for developing processes to speed the
integration of new customers gained through these acquisitions. Griffin
added, "With more than 12,000 active customers, customer care is a key focus
for the organization. Providing exceptional service is essential to
establishing and maintaining loyal and long lasting relationships with our
customers."
Griffin continued, "In addition to Ravi's appointment, we have promoted
Rae Kohan, formerly General Manager of Sales for California, Nevada, and
Arizona, to Vice President of Business Sales. By separating our customer
operations functions from our sales division, Rae and his team will now be
able to focus exclusive attention on increasing the size and productivity of
our sales force and expanding our base of small and medium-sized business
customers as we continue to enter new markets throughout the western U.S."
Brar joined Pac-West in July of 1999. Prior to joining Pac-West, he was
employed with Xerox Corporation from 1991 to 1999, where his most recent
position was Business Development Manager for Xerox's Developing Markets
Operations. Brar was responsible for creating and launching new business
programs and service operations in China and Russia. Brar holds a Bachelor of
Science degree in Managerial Economics from the University of California at
Davis and a MBA from the University of Pittsburgh.
Kohan joined Pac-West in November of 1998 as Branch Sales Manager. He was
promoted to General Manager of the company's Bay Area Business Unit in January
of 2000. In May of 2000, his role was expanded to include the company's
Central Valley Business Unit. In August of 2000, he was promoted to General
Manager of Sales for California, Nevada, and Arizona. Kohan has over 12 years
of sales management experience, including positions with IKON Office Solutions
and Pitney Bowes. Kohan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University
of Kentucky, and has earned an SEC Series 7 license.
Relating to this realignment, Brian Johnson, Senior VP and GM of Business
Markets will be leaving the company effective November 30, 2000, to pursue
other opportunities.
