CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Oct. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Biogen, Inc. (Nasdaq: BGEN)
today announced that Thomas Bucknum, Esq. has been appointed Executive Vice
President and General Counsel. Mr. Bucknum reports to James C. Mullen,
President and Chief Operating Officer.

Mr. Bucknum joined Biogen in 1996 after a 20 year career with DuPont and
DuPont Merck Pharmaceuticals, where he served in diverse management roles in
legal, government and public affairs, international, marketing, and regulatory
affairs. He was named Biogen's Vice President and General Counsel in 1999.
In his position as Executive Vice President, Mr. Bucknum will oversee
Legal, Government and Public Affairs functions worldwide.
Mr. Mullen said, "Tom Bucknum has made considerable contributions to
Biogen since joining the company six years ago. His broad management and
industry experience will be of great value as Biogen grows into a multi-
product global organization."
