EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Oct. 25, 2006 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company's
(NYSE: RTN) Space and Airborne Systems has received a "Clean Air" award
from the South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD), which monitors
pollution in four Southern California counties.
The agency recognized the SAS commuter program for emissions reduction,
energy conservation and traffic abatement. The program encourages employees
to use other means than driving alone in their automobiles to travel to and
from work, thus eliminating more than 11 million miles traveled annually.
"It's gratifying to be honored by the AQMD," said Doug Fleming,
director of the SAS Environmental, Health and Safety department. "We're
extremely proud of our 26-year history of offering alternative means of
commuting to our employees, and we're delighted that many of them have
taken environmental protection to heart."
