The Embraer 170 Aircraft Joins the Canadair 700 as the Most Comfortable
Regional Jets in the Sky
CHICAGO, Oct. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- United Airlines now offers
United Express customers a more spacious onboard experience with the
introduction of the new 70-seat Embraer 170 aircraft to the United Express
fleet, complementing the United Express fleet of 70-seat Canadair 700 regional
jets already in service.
With the most spacious regional jet cabin in the sky, the Embraer 170
aircraft offers the widest aisles and seats of any aircraft in its category
and is the first regional jet in the industry with both United First(R) and
United Economy Plus(SM) seating. A number of United Express Canadair 700s
currently offer First Class cabins, and Economy Plus sections will be added
next year. Like the Canadair 700, the Embraer 170 cabin design guarantees
customers either an aisle or window seat. The Embraer 170 also provides large
overhead bins that accommodate roll-on bags.

flexibility and travel options in a truly state-of-the-art aircraft, and
represents the latest evolution of our regional jet service," said Sean

our strategy to improve the United Express product, United is the first
airline to introduce First Class service and the extra legroom of Economy Plus
seating together to our regional jet fleet. Bringing the Embraer 170 into the
Express aircraft family is one of many United Express customer service
enhancements we are making, including facility and operational improvements,
and EasyCheck-in units now installed in 29 United Express airports."
The First Class cabin features roomy leather seats with 38-inch seat
pitch. Also, Mileage Plus(R) members have the opportunity to redeem miles for
United First upgrades with paid tickets on select fares, the same way they can
today on United mainline flights.
United Express carrier Chautauqua Airlines, owned by Republic Airways,
launched the Embraer 170 into United Express service on Fri., Oct. 22,
between Washington Dulles and Houston, Washington Dulles and Indianapolis, and
Chicago and Indianapolis. Customers in numerous markets where demand matches
70-seat capacity will enjoy the enhanced features of either the Embraer 170 or
Canadair 700. During the next few months, Chautauqua plans to fly Embraer 170
United Express service from Washington Dulles and Chicago O'Hare to cities
including Rochester, N.Y., Buffalo, N.Y., Hartford, Conn., Norfolk, Va., Des
Moines, Iowa, and New Orleans.
United is working with Republic Airways to incorporate more than 23
Embraer 170s with the United First and Economy Plus configuration into the
United Express fleet by next year. In addition, United and its United Express
carriers will add nearly 50 Canadair 700 regional jets outfitted with both
First Class and Economy Plus seating into service by mid-2005.
