NATPE Presents Highlights of 2005 Conference & Exhibition

           Registration Pacing Ahead of Last Year in All Categories

Featured Speakers to Include Ted Turner and FCC Commissioner Michael J. Copps

    Inaugural Session on Mobile Technology Announced as Conference Kickoff

    LOS ANGELES, Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- At a press briefing this morning in
Los Angeles, the National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE)
presented highlights of the 2005 NATPE Conference & Exhibition being held
January 25-27 at Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas.  The announcements were
made by Rick Feldman, NATPE president and chief executive officer, and NATPE
Co-Chairs Stephen Davis, president, Granada America, and John Weiser,
president, distribution, Sony Pictures Television.
    "I'm delighted to report that we are pacing ahead in every category over
last year," commented Mr. Feldman.  "This includes exhibitors on the floor and
in suites at the Mandalay Bay, attendees, both domestic and international, as
well as the number of panels, seminars and networking opportunities that are
being offered.  I'm grateful for the continuing support of our membership and
I am confident that this year's NATPE will be both vibrant and rewarding."
    Mr. Weiser revealed that Ted Turner will address NATPE's opening session
on Tuesday morning.  "Ted Turner is an extraordinary example of the kind of
vision, creative thinking and business acumen that is so vital to the
continued growth of our industry.  He is a pioneer by any definition and I can
think of no one better qualified to open our Conference & Exhibition."
    Mr. Davis announced that FCC Commissioner Michael J. Copps will be the
featured speaker for Wednesday morning's opening session.  "Commissioner Copps
has very strong opinions on the role of the FCC in addressing issues of major
significance to the communications industry.  With regulatory matters still at
the forefront, this is a valuable opportunity for our members to gain insight
and learn directly how future policy may influence their businesses."
    Mr. Feldman unveiled plans for an inaugural daylong session with
iHollywood entitled NATPE Mobile ++, that will address the impact of wireless,
mobile and digital distribution technologies for television producers,
developers, technology companies, broadcasters and advertisers.
    NATPE Mobile ++ will precede the NATPE Conference & Exhibition on Monday,
January 24.
    The panels include "TV Anytime, Anywhere: Multimedia and Video on Mobile
Devices," "Premium Messaging Services, SMS and TV,"  "New Revenue Streams from
TV Programming" and "HDTV Goes Mass Market: Selling HD Content for Cable and
Networks."
    "NATPE is dedicated to helping our membership keep pace with new
opportunities for content distribution and this partnership will provide the
very latest information on an array of new distribution platforms," Mr.
Feldman stated.
    In addition, The Interactive Television Alliance, an independent trade
association representing the broad interests of the entire iTV industry, will
present a panel entitled "Interactive Television: The Next Generation," as

well as three additional sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday during
the NATPE Conference.
    NATPE will celebrate the winners of its second annual Brandon Tartikoff
Legacy Awards during a cocktail reception the evening of Tuesday, January 25.
The awards, named in honor of the pioneering television executive, recognize
excellence and leadership in the creation of television programming, and are
presented in association with Broadcasting & Cable, Multichannel News and
Variety.
    Mr. Feldman stated that, as previously announced, a number of major
players have been added to the exhibit floor.  Paramount Domestic Television
will join their returning sister companies, King World Productions and CBS
Paramount International Television, under the Viacom umbrella.  Sony Pictures
International Television will be joining the returning Sony Pictures
Television.  Warner Bros. International Television Distribution will also
exhibit.
    Also returning to the exhibition floor this year are the domestic and
international operations of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, Carsey-Werner and NBC
Universal Television Distribution.  Other exhibitors committed to space on the
exhibit floor include DIC Entertainment, The DISCOP Organization, Harmony
Gold, The Independent Film and Television Alliance (IFTA), Nielsen Media
Research, Telefilm Canada, and TV France International, among many others.
    The NATPE staff is finalizing the agenda for its 2005 Conference, which
will include issue-oriented panels, workshops, guest speakers and events
designed for networking.  Additional announcements will be made over the
coming weeks.
    In a continuing initiative to attract top program buyers from the U.S. and
overseas to attend NATPE 2005, the association is continuing its VIP
membership category for program acquisition executives from all content
distribution platforms.
