Triad Guaranty Named One of Forbes' '200 Best Small Companies' for Second Consecutive Year

    WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., Oct. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Triad Guaranty Inc.
(Nasdaq: TGIC) has been named in Forbes magazine's October 31, 2005 issue as
one of America's "200 Best Small Companies" for the second year in a row. This
is the third time, since Triad's inception in 1987, that the company has been
named to the prestigious list, having also been listed in 2004 and 1999.
    Forbes' 2004 list is based on financial data as of September 29, 2005.
Overall, Triad Guaranty ranked number 93 by five-year return on equity, number
142 on sales, and number 58 by profits.
    Forbes magazine (http://www.Forbes.com) compiles its annual "200 Best Small
Companies" in America list using "very strict financial performance standards.
To qualify, candidates have to show a consistent pattern of positive growth
during a five-year period, as well as of the last 12 months."  Forbes selected
its list from companies with sales ranging from $5 million to $750 million,
net profit margins greater than 5 percent and share prices above $5 as of
September 29.
