Expert Cardiologist Joins Quintiles Medical Group

Strengthens support of clinical research protocol development, ECG services

    RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Quintiles
Transnational Corp. today announced that Christopher H. Cabell, M.D., MHS,
FACC, an expert cardiologist and clinical investigator, has joined the
Medical & Scientific Services group in Global Clinical Development Services
(CDS). In addition to his CDS work, he provides U.S.-based cardiology
expertise for Quintiles ECG Services.
    Cabell comes to Quintiles from the Duke University School of Medicine,
where he developed a strong background in cardiac safety. He held several
appointments within the Duke Clinical Research Institute (DCRI), including
Co- Chair and Principal Investigator for a Duke/FDA Cardiac Safety
partnership to develop a new generation of tools to identify the potential
effects of medical devices and drugs on the heart. Also within DCRI, he
held appointments as Director of the Echocardiography Core Laboratory,
Associate Director of the ECG Core Laboratory and Director of the
International Collaboration on Endocarditis. He also was Assistant
Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology.

Technologies (India), said Cabell's support of ECG Services would be of
particular interest to U.S.-based customers who rely on Quintiles for
round- the-clock analysis of electrocardiograms. "His work at the ECG
Laboratory at Duke along with his clinical experience adds depth and
breadth to our ECG Services team."
    Cabell's responsibilities include serving as a medical advisor on
clinical project teams and providing support to investigative sites and
project staff regarding protocol issues. He is based at the Quintiles
offices near Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.
    Cabell has authored or co-authored 50 articles for peer-reviewed
publications and delivered more than 30 invited lectures. He is a member of
several professional organizations, a Fellow of the American College of
Cardiology, and a reviewer for a number of medical journals, including the
Journal of the American Medical Association. He earned his medical degree
and a Master's in Health Science from the Duke University School of
Medicine.
