SAN DIEGO, Oct. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Today San Diego District Manager
John E. Platt announced the return of nine relocated Post Offices to their
buildings effective Monday, October 29. That leaves only five Post Offices
in the four-county San Diego District remaining at relocated sites.
Mail delivery from all 147 San Diego District Post Offices has been
delivered since Wednesday by letter carriers, in Post Office Boxes or at
temporary Post Offices established for evacuated communities.
In San Bernardino County, operations resume at local Post Offices in
Blue Jay 92317, Cedar Glen 92321, Crestline 92325, Lake Arrowhead 92352,
Rimforest 92378, Skyforest 92385 and Twin Peaks 92391. They had been
relocated to Norton AFB.
The mail for Running Springs and Green Valley Lake will remain at
Norton for customer pick-up until there is access to those communities.
In San Diego County, operations resume in Jamul 91935 and Potrero
91963. Mail for Tecate 91980 and Dulzura 91917 remain at the El Cajon Post
Office for pick-up. Mail for Palomar Mountain is available at the Santa
Ysabel Post Office.
It is especially important that all residents check their mail daily,
especially customers who have Post Office Boxes. Accumulated mail volume is
filling mail receptacles beyond capacity.
Extra staffing is scheduled at Post Offices impacted by the fires to
deliver the mail and accommodate customers who are returning home.
Residents experiencing damaged or destroyed homes or businesses and can
no longer receive mail there should contact their local Post Office to make
alternative arrangements. Mail that is undeliverable due to property damage
will be held for pick-up at local Post Offices or wherever mail is
available for that ZIP Code.
San Diego District residents can contact USPS Consumer Affairs at
858-674-2670 for information and assistance with fire-related mail delays
or damage. Consumer Affairs is located at 11251 Rancho Carmel Drive, San
Diego, CA at entrance #3.
An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only
delivery service that visits every address in the nation, 146 million homes
and businesses, six days a week. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies
on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating
expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $73
billion and delivers nearly half the world's mail.
