Raytheon Establishes SilentRunner(R) Inc.

WASHINGTON, Oct. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) has
restructured its Information Assurance Products business area, forming a
wholly owned subsidiary company called SilentRunner(R) Inc. The announcement
was made today at the Computer Security Institute's 28th Annual Computer
Security Conference and Exhibition at the Wardman Park Marriott.
SilentRunner(R) is the world's premier internal network security analysis
system. Since its launch one year ago, a variety of Fortune 500 corporations
and U.S. government agencies have installed the product to safeguard their
intellectual property from information security breaches. SilentRunner(R)
clients include major corporations in the banking, financial, electronics,
pharmaceutical and high-tech industries.
"Raytheon invested in SilentRunner(R) Inc. because of the increasing
demand for enterprise security tools and services," said Frank Marchilena,
president of Raytheon's Command, Control, Communications and Information (C3I)
Systems. "The number of SilentRunner's(R) customers and re-sellers
demonstrates that the market has accepted the product-this new structure
should help it grow at an accelerated pace both in revenue and personnel."
Launched in June 2000, SilentRunner(R) identifies security risks, locates
network vulnerabilities, conducts forensic investigations, performs audits and
alerts management to the potential loss of data. It is the only security
system that enables a rapid response to the challenge of protecting a
company's assets, because it quickly correlates complex network events and
displays this information in easily understood graphics. When combined with
firewalls and intrusion detection systems, SilentRunner(R) completes a
company's network security suite.
Jeff Waxman, previously vice president of the Information Assurance
Products business area, will assume the role of president and CEO of
SilentRunner(R) Inc. In addition, John Suit, co-inventor of the flagship
product, will now serve as chief technology officer, and Bert Turner, formerly
director of business development for C3I's Strategic Systems business unit, is
now senior vice president.
With headquarters in Lexington, Mass., Raytheon Company is a global
technology leader in defense, government and commercial electronics, and
business and special mission aircraft.
