DALLAS, Feb. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Fleming Companies, Inc. (NYSE: FLM)
announced today that the company has selected ten Sentry Supermarkets in the
Milwaukee area to be upgraded to a new price impact concept with expanded meat
and produce offerings, new features, new conveniences, a new look and a new
name: Fresh4Less(TM).
"These stores will be the first of their kind," said Dennis Lucas,
President of Fleming Retail. "We're combining the strongest qualities of
Fleming's existing price impact retail operations with significant
enhancements and improvements. This combination offers a unique shopping
experience that meets the needs of today's consumers. We're excited about
these new stores and what they will add to their communities."
Fleming already operates 30 successful price impact stores in the Northern
California, Utah and Arizona, known for providing national brands and high
quality perishables at extremely low prices. In addition to these
characteristics, the Fresh4Less stores will have significantly expanded meat,
produce, frozen food and health & beauty care departments. The stores will
also have a fresh, contemporary layout and decor package. Selected outlets
will have banks and fuel centers on site. A number of other customer
conveniences will be unveiled when the first stores open under the Fresh4Less
banner in late summer of 2001. The ten stores being converted from Sentry to
Fresh4Less are:
