DALLAS, March 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Fleming (NYSE: FLM) today announced
organizational changes to the logistics team at Fleming's Customer Support
Center, designed to improve service and support of the field staff in day-to-
day operations.
The following regional Vice Presidents of Distribution will report to Bill
Merrigan, Senior Vice President of Logistics:
Joe Smoliga has been hired as Vice President of Distribution, covering the
following operations: Minneapolis Division, LaCrosse Division, LaCrosse GMD,
Superior Division, Marshfield Division, Romeoville Division and the Milwaukee
Division. Smoliga comes to us with 28 years of experience in the wholesale
food business. Most recently, he was Vice President of Distribution at
SuperValu for the Midwest region.
Bob Toomey has been hired as Vice President of Distribution covering the
following operations: Sacramento Division, Sacramento GMD, Fresno Division,
Salt Lake City Division, Phoenix Division, Massillon Division and the Hawaii
Division. Toomey joins Fleming from Nash Finch where he was the Vice
President of Logistics. Toomey has 33 years in the distribution business.
Rick Evans has been promoted to Vice President of Distribution, covering
the following operations: Garland Division, Dallas GMD, Lubbock Division,
Oklahoma Division, Lincoln Division, Kansas City Division and Topeka GMD.
Most recently, Rick served as Director of Warehouse Operations at the CSC in
Lewisville. Evans has been with Fleming for 10 years. Prior to joining
Fleming, Evans spent 20 years with Furrs.
John Lane has been promoted to Vice President of Distribution, covering
the following operations: Warsaw Division, Nashville Division, Memphis
Division, Memphis GMD, Lafayette Division, Geneva Division and the Miami
Division. Most recently, Lane served as Director of Distribution and Food
Safety. John has been with Fleming for 22 years. Prior to joining Fleming,
Lane was with A&P Food Companies.
