The Supermarket Chains Are Also Providing Water and Other Supplies for
Firefighters and Evacuation Centers and $15,000 for Animal Rescue Efforts
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Supermarket partners Ralphs and Food
4 Less are helping the victims of Southern California wildfires. The
supermarket chains' charitable division, The Ralphs/Food 4 Less Foundation, is
donating $50,000 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.
"Thousands of our customers, associates and their families have been
affected by the wildfires," said John Burgon, President of Ralphs
Supermarkets. "Ralphs and Food 4 Less are committed to supporting the
communities we serve and we are proud to be able to assist the American Red
Cross with its disaster relief efforts. The Red Cross is an integral part of
our community, and we are fortunate to have their services when our
communities are affected by disasters."
In addition to the $50,000 donation, all Ralphs and Food 4 Less stores in
Southern California are providing donated water and other supplies for
firefighters battling wildfires in Los Angeles, San Bernardino, San Diego and
Ventura Counties. Ralphs and Food 4 Less stores will also be making donations
to emergency evacuation centers as needs arise.
"We are proud to support the brave men and women who are battling the
wildfires on the front lines," said Burgon.
Ralphs is also making donations totaling $15,000 to the Society for the
Prevention of Cruelty Against Animals Los Angeles (spcaLA), Inland Valley
Humane Society, Escondido Humane Society, San Diego Humane Society, and Humane
Society of Ventura County to assist in animal rescue efforts.
The Ralphs/Food 4 Less Foundation was established in 1991 by Ralphs and
Food 4 Less to fulfill the supermarket company's commitment to giving back to
the communities it serves. Over this time, the Foundation has supported
hundreds of nonprofit organizations, schools and disaster relief efforts from
San Diego to Sacramento with grants in excess of $20 million. Thousands of
people have benefited as a result of this support.
Ralphs Grocery Company was founded in 1873 and currently operates
480 conventional and price-impact supermarkets in California, southern Nevada,
