SAN DIEGO, Oct. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Gateway today introduced the next
generation of its popular Gateway Profile family of products, the Gateway
Profile 3, a new spacing-saving all-in-one desktop computer designed for homes
and small workspace environments where space is at a premium. With its slim
6-inch deep design, this compact feature-rich system is ideal for any room in
the home or business environment where appearance and compact design count.
The enhanced slimline desktop computer is now even smaller and lighter than
previous Gateway Profile models, making it easy to move from room to room.
Built-to-order, clients can create a variety of configurations to meet a range
of price and performance requirements.
Sleek All-in-One Design Offers Consumers a Stylish PC
The Gateway Profile 3 is perfect for any home or home office where
functionality, style and space saving are top considerations. With four
USB ports, clients can just plug in and start using a new peripheral, such as
a scanner or digital camera, eliminating the need to configure the new device
into the PC's operating system. The Gateway Profile 3 also offers top-notch
performance, featuring a fast Intel Pentium III 866 MHz processor for handling
home finances, education titles and Web surfing with ease.
Space-Saving Design Benefits Business Clients
Clients with space constraints have been installing Gateway Profile
slimline desktops in a variety of business environments. At the Atlanta VA
Medical Center in Georgia, administrators selected the Gateway Profile for its
ability to maximize limited space in treatment and emergency rooms. "The
small size of the Gateway Profile makes the use of technology during office
visits less intrusive, allowing for a more personal relationship between our
doctors and patients," said James H. Barbee, IT Manager for the hospital. "In
addition, the Gateway Profile PC's sleek design was instrumental in getting
our staff interested in using technology. This is extremely important as we
move toward becoming a paperless office through the use of voice recognition
software and a barcode scanning system used to dispense and track
medications," said Barbee.
At a public library in the Pacific Northwest, officials recently installed
Gateway Profile desktops in public and administrative areas, avoiding a costly
redesign of the facilities, which would have been required for traditional
PCs.
Power and Expansion Capabilities Comparable to Traditional Desktops and
Mini-Towers
Despite its slim size and small footprint, the Gateway Profile 3 features
state-of-the-art technology, while Gateway's built-to-order model allows
systems to be configured to accommodate specific budget and performance
requirements. Clients can chose from a range of Intel Pentium III and Celeron
processors, up to 20GB of hard disk storage, memory capacity up to 512MB and
choice of CD-ROM or DVD-ROM players.
The 15-inch TFT flat panel display provides crisp, clear images,
delivering more vibrant, detailed and life-like colors and images than
traditional CRT monitors, making it ideal for a variety of graphics
applications, including business presentations, Web page design, games and
photo editing. With Ethernet or v.90 modem support, the Gateway Profile is
ready for immediate out-of-the-box access to company Intranets, university
networks and provides for easy home Internet connectivity.
Availability and Pricing
The Gateway Profile 3 is available immediately. In addition to
built-to-order options, the Gateway Profile is available in several standard
configurations, with prices ranging from $1,699 to $1,999.
