Fleming Realigns Price Impact Retail Operation With Centralized Procurement; Related Organizational Changes Announced

    DALLAS, June 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Fleming (NYSE: FLM) announced today that
the company has realigned company-owned retail stores into a single group that
supports the centralized procurement organization.  Sales and marketing
functions for Fleming retail have been moved to the company's Customer Support
Center where a retail sales and marketing team has been established to
coordinate with Fleming's Central Procurement operation.
    "This action brings together Fleming's remaining stores into a single,
focused price impact retail group," said Tom Dahlen, Executive Vice President
and President, Retail and Corporate Marketing.  "And aligning our company-
owned retail at our Customer Support Center further bolsters our centralized
procurement operation."
    In a related announcement, Jim Thatcher has been appointed Group Vice
President, Sales and Marketing for the Fleming Retail Group.  His
responsibilities now include retail marketing for all company-owned retail
stores and coordination with the centralized procurement operation.
    Tom Strzelczyk has been named President, Western Operations for the
Fleming Retail Group, and responsible for the Food4Less stores in Northern
California, Utah and Arizona.
    Pat Liska has been named President, Eastern Operations, and is responsible
for the Rainbow stores in Minneapolis and the company's new price impact entry
in Wisconsin.
    Thatcher, Strzelczyk and Liska continue to report to Denny Lucas,
Executive Vice President and President, Fleming Retail.
