LogicaCMG to Announce New Blended Outsourcing Model at Gartner Symposium/ITxpo

Independent research has been commissioned to investigate outsourcing risk

LONDON, Oct. 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- LogicaCMG will announce a new
blended outsourcing model that allows organisations to optimise their sourcing
risks, at the Gartner Symposium/ITxpo, Europe's largest gathering of IT
industry watchers and players, in Cannes, November 4-7.
At the event, where LogicaCMG is a chief sponsor and wireless technology
provider, the company will also reveal initial results of independent research
looking at the perception versus reality of outsourcing risk.
Although outsourcing is common practice across a wide cross-section of
industries, many organisations still consider it to be an inherently more
risky process than keeping operations in-house ('insourcing'). Therefore,
when organisations consider outsourcing technology or a business process, they
automatically assume the risk will increase and any potential benefits will be
weighed against this perception.
Bob Fawthrop, managing director, international outsourcing business,
LogicaCMG said: "Traditionally, organisations have considered the risk of
outsourcing in terms of the importance of the process to the business.
However, the reality is more complicated as other factors, such as available
resources, budgets and skills need to be considered to assess the true level
of risk both with outsourcing and insourcing. Looking holistically at the
causes of risk, some processes are actually less risky when outsourced. For
an organisation looking to minimise its risks, a blended approach of
outsourcing, encompassing onsite, offsite, nearshore and offshore needs to be
balanced against an insourcing approach."
A prerequisite to achieve the optimum balance of outsourcing is a careful
analysis of strategy, business requirements, resources, the future market and
a review of existing IT and business systems.
LogicaCMG, exhibiting on stand GP6 at the Gartner Symposium/ITxpo, will be
discussing the new blended outsourcing model, as well as announcing initial
outsourcing risk research results. LogicaCMG and its customers Britannia
Airways/TUI and Northern Electric/Mid American will be giving a presentation
where delegates can learn how organisations can re-energising the business
through 1-2pm on November 5.
