Smile Content selects Stratus' ENTICE and inter-network services gateway
BOSTON, Oct. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- VON Fall -- Stratus Technologies, Inc.
announced today that Smile Content of Denmark has selected Stratus for
deploying its VoIP service over its IP backbone and broadband access
infrastructure, and will be using the Stratus ENTICE(TM) (Emerging Network
Telecommunications Control Environment) framework, Stratus(R) Inter-network
Services Signaling Gateway(TM) (ISSG), fault-tolerant ftServer(R) T Series
servers, and Cantata IMG 1010 media gateway to deliver "triple-play"
services. The new SIP-based solution will enable Smile Content to expand
its residential voice customer base, build its own VoIP and IN services,
and extend VoIP to enterprise customers with IP PBX and IP Centrex.

as it also prepares to roll out new revenue-generating services that will

Key elements of the new infrastructure will include:
-- Stratus ENTICE, which will provide the residential and enterprise
VoIP capabilities and session border control (SBC) functionality;
-- ISSG, which provides a bridge between networks, to enable services
built for one network to be used in another network without change.
Amongst other capabilities, this will allow SIP-based services to
seamlessly interact with IN-based applications;
-- Stratus ftServer T Series T40 systems, which combine Intel(R)
Xeon(R) processors and Red Hat(R) Enterprise Linux(R) operating
system with Stratus carrier-grade, fault-tolerant server
architecture to deliver uptime greater than 99.999 percent; and
-- Cantata IMG 1010 media gateway, which combines the signaling server
and trunking gateway functionality in one intelligent gateway.

Smile Content will also host an internal clearing house (ICH) and order
workflow system (OWS) that it is purchasing from NeoConsult of Denmark. The
Stratus products will interface with the ICH/OWS, as well as the existing
invoicing and customer self-care systems via a SOAP API. Deployment of the
new VoIP infrastructure is expected to be completed before year-end.
Stratus recently announced the new ENTICE 2.5 family of products, which
offer complete control services and a software foundation for high-quality
VoIP and IN/AIN services. ENTICE products are modular and built on open
services architecture, making it easy to combine modules in any combination
to suit existing or green-field deployment needs. Included in the ENTICE
2.5 family are the following products: Session Border Controller; EREV
Residential/Enterprise VoIP; Softswitch; VoIP Gateway; and
Tandem/International Gateway.
