LAS VEGAS, Oct. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- OSRAM SYLVANIA is assisting
Chrysler's Mopar(R) Underground SEMA design team demonstrate the
customization possibilities of the modern minivan by equipping a Dodge
Caravan with the latest advances in automotive lighting.

The highly-modified Dodge Caravan R/T is among the many anticipated
vehicles to be unveiled at the SEMA Show schedule for Oct. 30 - Nov. 2.
This vehicle represents one of two Chrysler-based vehicle projects that
OSRAM is assisting with in Las Vegas. The other vehicle has been dubbed The
Chrysler Town & Country Black Jack because of its gaming-style interior.
The special Caravan R/T project has provided OSRAM with a unique canvas
on which to exhibit its state-of-the-art exterior lighting technology.
"The theme of this particular vehicle, from OSRAM's standpoint, is
'Lighting Performance,'" said David Hulick, OSRAM SYLVANIA's global product
manager for Automotive LED Systems. "This Caravan R/T represents the best
of what our company has to offer in lighting componentry, from both our OEM
and aftermarket product lines. It's safe to say that no other minivan in
the world has this degree of innovative exterior lighting content."
OSRAM's product portfolio for the Caravan R/T project includes:
-- Joule Signal System L2 direct view optic driving custom light guides
for tail, turn and stop functions
-- Joule Signal System L1 indirect view optic using white LEDs to provide
back-up illumination
-- Joule Forward Lighting System for the front fog lamp application. The
Joule system is built into an assembly designed by Valeo SYLVANIA and
uses the OSTAR Headlamp as its light engine. All the Joule systems use
light emitting diodes (LEDs) from OSRAM Opto Semiconductors
-- Halogen H13 SilverStar headlamp light sources
-- Auxiliary S8 Wedge SilverStar amber front turn signal light sources
which feature a special coating that gives them a blue-ish appearance
when unlit and an amber glow when activated
The fully-functional Caravan R/T was created and designed by Chrysler's
Mopar Underground SEMA design team, a group of in-house automotive
enthusiasts who donate their time to the SEMA project vehicles. The Mopar
Underground is overseen by Ralph Gilles, Vice President of Jeep/Truck & CFM
Design, Chrysler LLC. Mopar Underground has been customizing Chrysler,
Jeep(R) and Dodge production vehicles for the SEMA show since its creation
in 2002. The team creates tricked, tuned and customized vehicle concepts
meant to develop performance parts, accessories, customization and keep the
Mopar spirit and passion alive.
