American Eagle Outfitters, Inc. Reports October Total Sales Increase of 21.5%; Same Store Sales Increase 2.6%

    WARRENDALE, Pa., Nov. 1 /PRNewswire/ --
American Eagle Outfitters, Inc. (Nasdaq: AEOS) today announced total sales for
the four weeks ended October 28, 2000 increased 21.5% to $71.8 million from
$59.1 million for the four-week period ended October 30, 1999.  Same store
sales for the 2000 period increased 2.6% compared to the corresponding four-
week period last year.  This compares to a 21.9% same store increase in
October 1999.
    Sales for the third quarter ended October 28, 2000 increased 27% to
$282.8 million from $222.7 million for the third quarter ended October 30,
1999.  Same store sales for the third quarter of 2000 rose 6.8% compared to
the same period last year.
    Sales for the thirty-nine week period ended October 28, 2000 increased
22.5% to $669.8 million from $546.7 million for the thirty-nine week period
ended October 30, 1999.  Same store sales for the 2000 period rose
2.9% compared to the corresponding thirty-nine week period last year.
