MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- For the third consecutive year,
Governor Tim Pawlenty has declared November as "Technology Innovation Month"
in Minnesota.
"Minnesota has a long and proud history of innovation and we need to
continue that tradition if we are going to be successful in the global
economy," Governor Pawlenty said. "With the world changing at 100 miles per
hour, Minnesota cannot simply accept the status quo. It's important for us to
recognize the important role technology industries play in keeping Minnesota
competitive."
The proclamation recognizes technology innovation as a powerful engine for
economic growth; Minnesota's long history of innovation and growing presence
in the global marketplace; and the importance of education as a cornerstone of
an innovative economy.
"The proclamation issued by Governor Pawlenty is an important endorsement
by Minnesota's chief executive that technology industries are a vital part of
our state's economy," Kate Rubin, president of the Minnesota High Tech
Association said. "We are appreciative of his efforts not only in issuing
this proclamation, but also his efforts to position Minnesota as a center for
technology innovation."
The proclamation also acknowledges the significant contributions to
Minnesota's economy made by technology leaders and companies that are honored
as part of the Tekne Awards, organized by the Minnesota High Tech Association
(MHTA) and Minnesota Technology, Inc., in partnership with Medical
Alley/MNBIO. The Tekne Awards will be presented on November 10 at the
Minneapolis Convention Center.
