SACRAMENTO, Calif., Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Southern California's
tourism destinations are up and running and ready for visitors. As the
recent wildfires near containment, the state's attractions are spreading
the word that they're open for business.
"Southern California is known worldwide as an ideal vacation
destination, and I'm happy to report that it remains a wonderful and safe
place to visit," said Executive Director Caroline Beteta of the California
Travel and Tourism Commission (CTTC). "The wildfires did not affect the
majority of the state's popular attractions, and we encourage travelers to
experience firsthand the adventures that await throughout California."
In San Diego, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and Orange Counties fires
were contained to outlying areas and the regions' tourism destinations were
not affected by fire. In addition, areas of San Bernardino National Forest
including Big Bear and Lake Arrowhead are open and ready for guests. While
some attractions closed briefly to provide employees with time to handle
personal matters, all are now open and operating as scheduled. Hotels in
these regions are also welcoming guests, and meeting venues continue
hosting events as planned.
Visitors traveling to Southern California will find all of the region's
major airports fully-functioning and main highways open for drivers. Access
to some San Bernardino County destinations was hindered during the
wildfires, but all major roads have now reopened. CTTC advises that
visitors traveling to Southern California contact their specific
destination with questions pertaining to the wildfires, and more
information can be found on visitcalifornia.com.

"Whether you're looking for roller coasters, pristine beaches, exciting
nightlife or a mountain getaway, Southern California continues to offer
something for every traveler," said Beteta. "If you're in the mood for a
getaway, Southern California is open for business and waiting for you."

and generate $5.6 billion in state and local tax revenues. For more
