Pac-West Telecomm to Make Presentation at Safeguard Scientifics' Semi-Annual Partner Conference

Largest Gathering of Safeguard Companies Ever Meet to Leverage Network Effect

    STOCKTON, Calif., Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Pac-West Telecomm, Inc.
(Nasdaq: PACW), a rapidly growing provider of integrated communications
services to Internet service providers (ISPs) and business customers in the
western U.S., today announced that it will make a presentation at the
Safeguard Scientifics partner conference that is being held November 5-7, 2000
in New York.  Attendees will include Safeguard's 49 direct partner companies,
as well as more than 100 companies from Safeguard's private equity funds and
holding companies.
    The conference will feature presentations from Harry Wallaesa, President
and COO of Safeguard, Rich Karlgaard, Publisher of Forbes, and Mohanbir
Sawhney, Professor of E-Commerce at Northwestern University.  In addition to
Pac-West Telecomm, other presenting companies include Life F/X, Atlas
Commerce, TechSpace, ThinAirApps, Nextron and SOTAS, among others.  Safeguard
