NEW BRITAIN, Conn., Nov. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Board of
Directors of The Stanley Works (NYSE: SWK) announced that Don Allan Jr.,
42, has been named an Executive Officer of the Corporation. Don's
responsibilities as VP and Corporate Controller include SEC reporting,
corporate financial planning and analysis, general accounting shared
services functions, internal control policies and procedures, and finance
process improvement.
John F. Lundgren, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, commented: "The

Donald Allan Jr. was Corporate Controller of The Stanley Works in
November 2000 and promoted to Vice President in August of 2002. Don joined
The Stanley Works in March of 1999 as Director of Financial Reporting and
was promoted to Assistant Corporate Controller in October of 1999. Prior to
joining The Stanley Works, Don held financial management positions with
Loctite Corporation, a leading specialty chemical company, and Ernst &
Young LLP. At Loctite, his most recent assignments were Corporate Director
of Financial Reporting, Planning & Analysis and Latin American Region Chief
Financial Officer. During his nine years at Ernst & Young he rose to the
position of Audit Senior Manager.
Don holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of
Hartford. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the
Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants.
