Edison Schools Schedules First Quarter Earnings Call

   Company Reconfirms Guidance for the Current Fiscal Year of Approximately
$100,000,000 in Gross Site Contribution, $20,000,000+ in EBITDA, and Its First
                       Net Income in the Fourth Quarter

    NEW YORK, Nov. 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
Edison Schools Inc. (Nasdaq: EDSN) today announced that it will release its
first quarter results for the period ending September 30, 2002, on Thursday,
November 14, 2002, after the market closes.  Following the release, the
Company will host a conference call with analysts and investors at 5:00 pm
E.T. to discuss results for the quarter.  The Company said, in addition to
reports on the results of the quarter, it will provide more detailed guidance
for the remainder of fiscal 2003.
    The company reconfirmed its guidance for the current fiscal year.  It
expects to achieve (1) gross site contribution of approximately $100,000,000,
(2) its first annual EBITDA, net of stock based compensation expense, of at
least $20,000,000 and (3) its first net income in the fourth quarter of this
fiscal year.
    Interested parties may listen to the call, which will be broadcast live
over the Internet, through the Company's website at
