LAS VEGAS, NV USA
LAS VEGAS, Nov. 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Procter & Gamble (NYSE: PG)
introduces an easier and better way to care for a vehicle's finish with the
Mr. Clean AutoDry(TM) Carwash system, a new technology designed specifically
for automobiles that guarantees spot-free results with no hand drying.

The Mr. Clean AutoDry Carwash system combines proprietary polymer soap, a
pure-rinse water filter that removes impurities from the final rinse and a
hand-held sprayer that delivers the soap and filtered water without the need
for a filthy bucket.
"Mr. Clean AutoDry Carwash is the product of four years of research and
testing into what makes an automobile finish look great and last," said Bob
Gilbreath, Mr. Clean brand manager. "SEMA is the intersection of automobiles
and lifestyles, and we know the investment is bigger than dollars and cents."
Mr. Clean AutoDry Carwash cleans all external vehicle surfaces and
eliminates the need for any hand drying. The promise of a spot-free result is
backed with a one-year guarantee.
"Our research shows that consumers have a deep-seated hatred for water
spots and swirl marks, two unfortunate byproducts of traditional at-home and
away-from-home carwashes," said Alan Goldstein, research and development
manager. "Mr. Clean AutoDry Carwash breaks that tradition."
Consumers can now wash a vehicle with a continuous flow of clean water and
soap and follow it up with a filtered rinse that lets the automobile dry by
itself without spots.
Mr. Clean AutoDry's proprietary soap is tailored for vehicle surfaces,
with a clear understanding of the harsh conditions they encounter. The soap
helps release dirt and grime and causes rinse water to sheet off surfaces for
faster drying, increasing the ability to achieve the perfect result with quick
evaporation.
The filter features a water ion exchange system from the makers of PuR(R)
that delivers a de-ionized water rinse to remove minerals and impurities that
cause spots. The filter works with any type of fresh water - hard, soft, city
or well.
The combination of the soap and filter produces a sparkling spot-free
finish with no need to hand dry. Mr. Clean AutoDry is the first at-home
carwash to deliver this benefit, saving time and eliminating the potential
surface scratching caused by hand drying with towels or chamois, and damage
from mineral deposits.
"Carwash technology has finally caught up with automotive technology,"
said NASCAR racer and commentator Wally Dallenbach, who attended the
announcement as driver of the Mr. Clean AutoDry Busch series car. "Mr. Clean
has done his homework and his first auto-care product should be a runaway
winner."
Eight international patents are pending on the Mr. Clean AutoDry Carwash
system.
Procter & Gamble worked with DesignworksUSA, a subsidiary of the BMW
Group, in designing the Mr. Clean AutoDry sprayer, which has three separate
pathways for soap, plain rinse and AutoDry rinse. As support to P&G's design
concepts, DesignworksUSA used its proprietary ergonomics software to help
assure that the sprayer was lightweight, had the correct center of gravity,
and that the selector knob and on-off switch were easy to use with soapy
hands.
The carwash revolution arrives in retail stores in February 2004. Until
then, Mr. Clean AutoDry Carwash is available by visiting
