for Scios' innovative pipeline of drugs that are in development to address
unmet medical needs in heart disease, chronic inflammation and oncology.
"Scios is accelerating clinical development in key areas of acute medical
need," said Dr. Schreiner. "As a Johnson & Johnson company, we have access to
a valuable network of global resources that gives us the opportunity to make
an impact on an international scale with our novel compounds in development.
Few biotechnology companies can do this as readily."

Therapeutics and faculty positions at Washington University School of Medicine
and Harvard Medical School. Through his experience as a cardiovascular disease
and inflammation expert, Dr. Schreiner gained unique perspectives on the
development and future of biotechnology, which he enjoys applying at Scios.

the bench to the clinic without the downside of seeing it sold or traded for
some other resource," said Dr. Schreiner. "At Scios, we recruit researchers
and development experts who are committed to the value of driving a discovery
from its inception to the demonstration of patient benefit. We are building a
new model of biotech that will allow us to address global health problems and
break down the research and development barriers that have traditionally stood
between different regions of the world."
