OfficeMax Only National U.S. Office Products Supplier to Sell Recycled Paper Made With Wind Power

 OfficeMax Expands Line of 100 Percent Post-Consumer Paper to Help Companies
                           Meet Environmental Goals

    ITASCA, Ill., Nov. 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- OfficeMax(R), Incorporated
(NYSE: OMX), one of the nation's largest providers of office supplies and
services is adding a new 100 percent post-consumer paper to help contract
business customers meet their environmental goals. Starting in 2005, OfficeMax
will offer its North American business customers a 100 percent post-consumer
paper that is manufactured with wind power and certified by the Forest
Stewardship Council (FSC).
    Mohawk Color Copy 100% Recycled(TM) paper is manufactured without the use
of chlorine and chlorine compounds, and is manufactured by Mohawk Paper Mills,
the only mill in the U.S. using wind energy to make paper. It will be
available through contract orders, and will not initially be available in
OfficeMax retail stores.
    Through the partnership with Mohawk Paper Mills, OfficeMax is the only
national office products supplier to carry Mohawk Color Copy 100% Recycled
paper in North America.

    Mohawk Color Copy 100% Recycled is certified by the FSC, a nonprofit
organization that encourages the responsible management of the world's
forests. The paper also is certified by Green Seal, a nonprofit organization
devoted to environmental standard setting, product certification, advertising
claims substantiation and public education.
