PennDOT Announces Trumbull to Open Half of Portal Bridge

PITTSBURGH, June 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Traffic over Point State Park from the
Fort Duquesne Bridge (I-279) to the Parkway East (I-376) will resume beginning
at midnight tonight, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced
today.
The lanes, which make up half of the Point State Park Portal Bridge,
provide a direct connection from the Fort Duquesne Bridge to Fort Pitt
Boulevard, which motorists can then use to access the Parkway East. West
Mifflin-based Trumbull Corporation closed the structure on April 29 as part of
the phased, five-year-long Fort Pitt Bridge and Tunnel Rehabilitation Project.
The Portal Bridge lanes that carry traffic from the Fort Duquesne Bridge,
Tenth Street Bypass and Fort Duquesne Boulevard to the Fort Pitt Bridge will
remain closed to traffic.
Trumbull Corp. will save more than $360,000 in lane rental fees for
opening the lanes 36 days before the 90-day deadline.
