PITTSBURGH, July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Additional lanes of the Point State
Park Portal Bridge will be open to traffic Wednesday, July 28, as the first
major phase of the Fort Pitt Bridge and Tunnel Rehabilitation Project nears
completion, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced
today.
The lanes connecting the Fort Duquesne Bridge to the Fort Pitt Bridge will
open at 6 a.m. At the same time, the next phase of the project begins as the
Liberty Avenue on-ramp to the Fort Pitt Bridge is closed to traffic.
Both the Liberty Avenue and Tenth Street Bypass projects are expected to
be completed by late October.
Trumbull Corporation began work on Portal Bridge lanes on April 29. Lanes
to the Fort Pitt Bridge from Fort Pitt Boulevard and the Parkway East were
opened in June.
