AirWerks Introduces Two Lines of Turbochargers for Race and Street Use
ASHEVILLE, N.C., Nov. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AirWerks, the new
aftermarket forced-air technology brand from BorgWarner Turbo Systems North
America, introduces two lines of turbochargers, the K and S series. Now,
American auto enthusiasts will be able to add the same turbochargers to their
vehicles that come as factory equipment on such venerable performers as the
Audi RS4 Bi-Turbo and the Porsche 911 Turbo.
The AirWerks turbochargers were chosen for their overall efficiency and
feature broad compressor working areas to provide an engine with ample boost
over a wider rpm range.
For street use, AirWerks will offer both K and S series turbochargers that
produce 7 to 17 pounds of boost. But there's more -- lots more. The complete
AirWerks line includes unique S series turbos capable of cranking out as much
as 27 to 30 pounds of boost on a race-ready engine.
"Because BorgWarner Turbo Systems North America is a QS9000 supplier to
the automakers, consumers can rest assured that AirWerks' turbochargers will
offer the same exceptional levels of performance and reliability which
automakers demand," says Jack Lorimer, North American Aftermarket Director of
Sales for BorgWarner Turbo Systems. "These turbos also have a strong racing
lineage. They have boosted cars to victory at race tracks around the world,
including endurance races, such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans. These products
are built to last, even in the tough world of super-high performance."
In fact, AirWerks' K series turbochargers have been engineered to
withstand very high temperatures and very high speeds. The K series will
include K04, K16 and K26 turbocharger models. AirWerks' S series will include
S200, S300, S400 and S500 models.
Most of the AirWerks product offerings will be available for purchase in
North America in January 2003.
