Skyriver Communications Network Fully Functional During Southern California Wildfires; Company Proud to Aid in Recovery and Response Efforts.

SAN DIEGO, Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- As wildfires raged throughout
Southern California, Skyriver Communications' Fixed Wireless Broadband
communications network continued to operate without interruption. The
seamless operation of the Company's network was nothing short of remarkable
considering that large portions of Skyriver's network are located in some
of the hardest hit areas of San Diego County. While other communications
infrastructure, including cellular and telephone lines, were significantly
impacted during this crisis, Skyriver maintained 100% network uptime and
provided uninterrupted access to critical communications services
throughout the firestorm to its customers.
Brad Slavin, Skyriver's VP of Engineering and Network Operations
stated, "The fact that our network survived these tremendous fires without
a single network outage is a true testament to the carrier-grade
engineering approach we have implemented. We have full redundancy at each
of our sites, ensuring that our customers have seamless connectivity
through even the worst of natural disasters."
The fires that raged throughout San Diego County and many other areas
of Southern California destroyed thousands of homes and business and
displaced hundreds of thousands for extended periods. Skyriver's own
corporate office had to be evacuated for a number of days as it was located
in the path of one of the main fires, the Witch Creek Fire. Nearly half of
Skyriver's employees had to evacuate their own homes, many experiencing
close calls with devastating personal lose.
As the entire community responded to calls for aid and assistance
during this crisis, Skyriver did its part by responding immediately to
address the communications infrastructure at some of San Diego County's
primary evacuation centers. Skyriver delivered temporary high-speed
broadband data connections to evacuation sites including the Del Mar
Fairgrounds and Racetrack, where it set up public WiFi networks to allow
evacuees access to critical information updates and Internet access. Aaron
Ezrilov, General Manager of Enterprise Sales and WiFi Hospitality stated,
"We felt compelled to provide some form of normalcy to the many displaced
San Diegan's during this time of great uncertainty. In a technology driven
community, the loss of Internet capability and email communication prompted
us to take action."
The Del Mar Racetrack accommodated thousands of displaced residents and
served as the primary evacuation center for families with animals and pets.
Ron Rogers, IT Manager for the Del Mar Racetrack, had the following praise
for Skyriver: "Skyriver's offer to provide data connectivity for the Del
Mar Racetrack and its evacuees shows the true community spirit that
prevailed throughout these terrible fires. They were able to get the
services up and running in a matter of hours, under difficult
circumstances. The services they provided were a godsend for evacuees who
were desperately seeking information on the developing situation."
In addition to its response at evacuation centers throughout the
County, Skyriver also deployed and managed the data communications links
used by the White House at MCAS Miramar during President Bush's visit to
tour the affected areas throughout San Diego. Greg Pitts, Director of the
White House Travel Office remarked, "Skyriver was the only provider we were
able to find that was able to meet the secure and time sensitive data needs
of the White House during the President's visit to San Diego. Their rapid
response and deployment speaks volumes to their flexibility in providing
critical communications services. Skyriver's work helped make the
President's trip to California a success and on behalf of the White House
Travel Office we sincerely thank them for their hard work."
