American Eagle Outfitters, Inc. (Nasdaq: AEOS) today announced that total
sales for the four weeks ended November 3, 2001 increased 37.0% to
$98.4 million from $71.8 million for the period ended October 28, 2000. Total
sales for the four weeks ended November 3, 2001 include $6.7 million from the
Bluenotes/Thriftys operation. U.S. same store sales for the four weeks ended
November 3, 2001 increased 7.2% compared to the corresponding four-week period
ended November 4, 2000.
Total sales for the thirteen-week period ended November 3, 2001 increased
28.6% to $363.7 million from $282.8 million for the thirteen-week period ended
October 28, 2000. Total sales for the period include $29.4 million from the
Bluenotes/Thriftys operation. U.S. same store sales for the 2001 period rose
2.6% compared to the corresponding period last year.
Total sales for the thirty-nine week period ended November 3, 2001
increased 35.5% to $907.6 million from $669.8 million for the thirty-nine week
period ended October 28, 2000. Total sales for the period include
$70.9 million from the Bluenotes/Thriftys operation. U.S. same store sales
for the 2001 period rose 4.7% compared to the corresponding period last year.

Eagle brand of relaxed, clean, and versatile clothing for 16 to 34 year olds,
providing high-quality merchandise at affordable prices. AE's lifestyle
collection offers casual basics like cargos complemented by fashion looks in
