PORTLAND, Ore., Nov. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Fred Meyer Stores today
announced that Darrell Webb has been appointed president of the 133-store
chain.
Webb, 44, has 22 years of experience with Fred Meyer and its parent, The
Kroger Co. Since 1999, he has served as president of Quality Food Centers, a
division of Kroger that operates 86 stores in Washington and Oregon. Prior to
that, he was group vice president of national procurement for Kroger, with
responsibility for integrating buying and merchandising strategies across the
company. He joined Fred Meyer in 1980 as a management trainee in store
operations. Webb later held a variety of management positions in
merchandising and was named senior vice president of the Food Group at Fred
Meyer in 1998.
Webb graduated from Portland State University in 1980 and later earned an
MBA from that school. He has served on the Advisory Board of Directors for
the King County Salvation Army and the King County Library System Foundation.
He also is an Executive Board member for the Washington Food Industry
Association.
