IBM Selects Rational ClearCase LT as Configuration Management Tool for
WebSphere Application Developer
LEXINGTON, Mass., Nov. 8 /PRNewswire/ --Rational Software (Nasdaq: RATL)
today announced enhancements to its software development tools that provide
complete software development life-cycle support for the IBM WebSphere* Studio
Application Developer announced recently.
IBM WebSphere Studio Application Developer is a web services-enabled J2EE
development environment designed and built on standards that allows customers
to write portable applications across platforms. IBM has selected Rational(R)
ClearCase(R) LT to be included with the IBM WebSphere Studio Application
Developer, the only software configuration management tool included as part of
the product. This allows every user of IBM WebSphere Studio Application
Developer to have immediate access to the market-leading SCM technology and
enjoy a seamless upgrade to the full power of Rational ClearCase as their
needs grow.
Rational and IBM are continuing their long-standing relationship by
collaborating on open, integrated Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) solutions
necessary to enable customers to increase the speed, quality and
predictability of their software development projects, and simplify Web
application development.

The Rational(R) ClearCase(R) Product Family

Automated deployment of development artifacts to IBM WebSphere
Rational ClearCase now includes a Deployment Wizard for IBM WebSphere.
Users of Rational Rose(R) can now model, create, and automatically deploy
their Java software directly to IBM WebSphere to immediately test their code
on the application server. The new Deployment Wizard in Rational ClearCase
automates transfer of IBM WebSphere Studio and IBM VisualAge for Java
artifacts to IBM WebSphere Servers, providing customers an efficient and
reliable way to transfer WebSphere development artifacts to test and
production servers. In addition, the Rational ClearCase Deployment Wizard
automates archiving of existing WebSphere server applications to Rational
ClearCase, providing customers a secure and reliable archive and restore
facility for WebSphere applications.
Rational Unified Process(R)
The Rational Unified Process provides a step-by-step documented approach
on how to develop J2EE applications, and how to use the various Rational
solutions that automate the steps in the process. IBM and Rational have
collaborated to develop a variant for the Rational Unified Process,
specifically tailored for IBM WebSphere Studio Application Developer and IBM
WebSphere Server.
